Wynn/Encore

The Wynn poker room is actually located next door at it's sister property, Encore, so parking in the Encore garage is easier. The room is one of the nicest in Vegas, beautifully appointed, with excellent staff. The clientele tend toward higher income ranges, and the games follow along with larger maximum buy-ins and larger average pot sizes. The room is tourist heavy, but many of the locals you encounter will be pros with backpacks grinding out a living, so the tables aren't necessarily softer than other rooms.

PLO runs frequently, usually 1/2 with a $5 minimum limp, or $5/10 with a $20 straddle. The second most likely place in town, just behind Aria, to find a PLO game.

Food options are excellent here, but you do pay for the higher quality. Entrees from nearby Allegro or Wazuzu are some of the best tableside dining in town, but will cost you twice as much as some other rooms. Comps are reasonable and can be used to pay for the food, but it takes two long cash sessions to grind out enough comps for a meal.

The Wynn does not run promotions. This is not a good or a bad thing, every player has to decide how they feel about essentially playing the lottery every hand. Some promotions bring in softer players, while others reward only the locals who put in serious time. If you aren't going to pay attention to promotions and maximize the value you get from them, then avoiding them is the best option and The Wynn is the only major room in Vegas that doesn't take a promotional drop. That saves you two or three dollars every time you win a pot.

The Wynn will comp your parking, just remember to bring your ticket with you and give it to the someone at the podium to validate it.

Tournaments are very good here, with nice fields and solid staff. The structures are good and the events tend to run right outside the poker room. The exception to this is in December when they run the largest poker series outside of the WSOP, a month-long series in conjunction with the World Poker Tour that features a wide range of buy-ins and massive guarantees.

Daily tournaments are popular here, with buy-ins around $200 running at least once every day with sizable fields and 30 minute levels.

The Wynn also runs on PokerAtlas, with a two hour window, so you can get on the list way before you arrive at the room and almost always get a seat quickly.
